Can you determine the difference
between a polymer blend and a copolymer with IR
spectroscopy?
FT-IR can be used, but it is not accurate as FT-IR shows only the rest of non-reacted monomers.
Also, If polymer is not soluble, you can use FTIR to look for characteristic monomer peaks, they should disappear unless they are present in polymer.

Identify one major difference between the following pairs of chemical compounds when using IR spectroscopy analysis: a) 1-hexane and cyclohexane. b) 1-propanol and dimethylether. c) pentanal and 2-pentanone .
can you answer all questions please 26. Describe how you could use IR spectroscopy to distinguish between the following two isomers. 27. Match each compound below to its IR spectrum based on the intensity of the alkane C-H stretch absorption band. Spectrum 2 Spectrum 3 28. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy is generated using which type of electromagnetic radiation? a. microwaves b. radio waves c. visible light d. gamma rays e. No electromagnetic radiation is used.
Can someone answer the the following question on thermodynamics of polymer blends. If you could do an online search that would be very helpful. Studying for a test, thanks! Application of Polymer Blends 4. g materials are polymer blends For example, the cases of some of your laptops (probably some old laptops) are using polystyrene/polybutadiene blend. Do some search online and explain why engineers would like to blend polybutadiene into polystyrene. 2) Please search online and list at least one...
Question 29 1 pts IR spectroscopy can not be used to distinguish between the following molecules. The molecules would give rise to identical IR spectrum. OH OH O True False
Why can Raman Spectroscopy easily record at low frequencies (ie. below 600cm-1) but IR spectroscopy can not? Also, what differences are there between the spectrums themselves? Cheers, Mikey
IR spectroscopy can be used to analyze the structure of various organic compounds. If you were to compare the IR spectra for 4-aminophenol and acetaminophen, what would the major differences be between the two? List two main differences. In your answer, refer to appropriate stretching frequencies and give approximate (ranges) for expected peaks. (You should refer to the IR section in your text book for relevant data).
