Answer #1

According to the economic approach to the explanation of migration, the
primary cause for migration is the opportunity for improved external economic options. The theory asserts that factors such as low wages, high unemployment rates, lack of health care tend to drive individuals away from their countries of residence, whereas factors such as high wages, low unemployment attract individuals towards another country. The sociological approach to migration, however, argues that it is a much more complex phenomena and is impacted by broader factors such as race and ethnicity, social structure, and political policy. Instead of solely focusing on external economic forces, the sociological approach also looks at how perceptions of immigrants are formed and constructed and how migrants maintain, disrupt or contribute to social cohesion.
