Suppose you are a salesman for the Adidas Company. One day, you received an email from the athletic manager of the Polytechnic University. He complained the poor quality of soccer shoes that you sold to his soccer team. He would consider changing to another supplier, Mizuno Company, if you could not solve the problem.
Which action would be more appropriate for you? Rank your answer from good to bad and explain why.
a. Place a call to the athletic manager assuring him
of your commitment to service. Promise to be at Polytechnic at his
convenience to solve the problem.
b. Go by warehouse and take the athletic manager a new
shipment of shoes and apologize for the delay and poor quality of
the shoes.
c. Write an email to the athletic manager assuring him
that your company sells only high quality shoes and this type of
problem rarely occurs.
d. Ignore about an email because the athletic manager
seems to have the attitude that he can put pressure on you about
pricing by threatening to change supplier.
Answer: b , a , c and in last d
b= Good
a= less good than b but better than c and d options
c= average one
d= bad ( It is least quality attitude of a sales and service department)
Reason For option b at first priority, It will satisfy the ego and needs of athletic manager. He will be further understand our services commitment.
a) This will be my second priority as i will request him on phone which is less beneficial that first option ( b) . In this , I may be not as effective as in first situation , where i have a chance to show my service personality and commitments towards quality offerings.
c) It is much better than last option d , Here , Athelete manager may switch to other company.
d) It is one of the bad and least preferred options due to fact that ignoring a customer means destroying the whole business commitment and sales system.
