Answer #1

Answer:

Att/Atn = 10; Att/Att = 20; Atn/Atn = 3

Frequency (f) Att = 0.3

The frequency of Att in the next generation under stressful heat conditions will be 0.37. The allelic frequency in a gene pool has rare changes in one generation and therefore, in this case the allelic frequency of Att is near about similar. According to the Hardy-Weinberg principle, the allelic frequencies remain constant from one generation to the next, or remain in equilibrium. This is one of the basis of population genetics. There will changes in allelic frequency when the conditions for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium is deviated. The conditions are, a) population is infinitely large, b) no selection occurs, c) mating is random, d) no migration and e) no mutation. The study shown here doesn’t deviates any of those conditions.

A lizard population has two alleles conferring different tolerance to heat stress. In stressful heat conditions, the following genotypes give on average the following number of offspring per reproductive season: Att/Atn = 3; Att/Att= 5; Atn/Atn = 11. If this lizard population has an initial frequency for the allele Att of 0.4, what will the frequency of Att be in the next generation under stressful heat conditions

Question 2: In an outbreeding diploid population, an autosomal locus has two alleles, A1 and A2. You observe the allele frequencies of A1 and A2 are both equal to 0.5, and the relative fitnesses of the three genotypes (A1A1, A1A2, and A2A2) are equal to 2, 1.5, and 1, respectively. A) Which allele will become fixed in this population? (1 point) **The recessive beneficial allele A2A2 will eventually become fixed in the population (A2A2=1) B) What is the allele frequency...

    5. Fur colour in mice is a single gene trait controled by two alleles. In a population of 75 mice, 21 are homozygous dominant, 37 are heterozygous dominant, and 17 are homozygous recessive. What is the frequency of the dominant allele in the population? Show all work and record your answer as a value between O and 1 rounded to two decimal places 6. In a population of mice a particular locus has two alleles A1 (dominant) and A2 (recessive). There are 126 A1A1, 167 A1A2 and 88 A2A2. Is this population in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (3 pts)? In a population of Gragons, there are 3151 A1A1, 1678 A1A2 and 2014 A2A2 individuals. If the environment changes so that the homozygous recessive genotype suffers a reduction of fitness where its fitness is now 0.73, but the other genotypes are unaffected, what will be the frequency...
