Answer #1

Recombination refers to rearrangement of DNA sequence by breakage and rejoining of chromosome and chromosomal segment. We have two of each chromosome in our cell one from our father and one from our mother these chromosome are known as homologous chromosomes . During genetic recombination homologous chromosomes physically exchange piece of genetic information.

Chromosome is the most condensed form of DNA , DNA is found all over the chromosome, when recombination occur , the sequences of DNA altered from the previous DNA sequence on chromosome , there fore we say that recombination can lead to new allele . Not only is recombination needed homologous pairings during meiosis , but recombination have at least two additional benefits for the sexual species . It make new combination of allele along chromosomes and it restricts the effect of mutations largely to the region around the gene , not the hole chromosomes.
