6). Porifera is a phylum consists of sponges which are the simplest organisms. They are devoid of tissues and organs. They cannot move as they don’t have any locomotory organs. Two layers of cells will make their bodies. About 9,000 species of sponges were present.

Sponges are the simplest animals belong to the phylum Porifera. Their bodies consist of masses of specialized cells embedded in a gel-like matrix. The skeletal elements of sponges are spicules, and spongin fibers (present in the matrix). Their body cavity is lined by unique flagella cells called choanocytes, or collar cells.
