The stability of tRNAs and rRNAs are generally much greater than that of mRNAs, and thus have a longer life in the cell. How is this possible?

This is because of the difference in structure of these different types of RNA.

It is a fact that these nucleic acids are less stable compared to DNA. This is due to the -OH group in the sugar (Ribose). Presence of this group makes RNA unstable. It's absence makes DNA more stable comparatively.

Among the types of RNA - tRNA, rRNA and mRNA.

The first two types are more stable due to their complex structure, cross linking, double strand, pairing etc. This makes reaching -OH group difficult for any degrading enzymes or compounds. While the last type is straight chain and its functional group is easily available for reaction and breakdown. This makes it comparatively less stable.
