Maria has noticed that after implementing several changes to improve morale and cohesion at her pizza parlor, people are getting along better.  Maybe a little too much better.  Everyone seems to be thinking and acting the same.  So, she decides to hire a few new people—individuals who can look at the work with fresh eyes.  Do the following:  Using concepts and theories from the text, list five ways in which creating a more diverse workplace might impact the group’s and organization’s performance and explain in your own words why increased diversity will help each.

Having a diverse workforce can have a number of benefits for Maria:

1. Increased productivity in the form of increased employee competition and collaboration creation a sense of cohesion.

2. Increase in the creativity aspect of the teams since diversity brings forth a new set of outlook and perspectives which can be used to solve a problem more efficiently.

3. Innovation is a byproduct of diversity when the employer is able to manage the workforce effectively, the increased efficiency and productivity combined with creativity can create a more functional workforce which drives the factor of innovation.

4. It can make her recruitment process easier since he would not have to look for a particular set of skills or values.

5. She can select from a larger skill set and pool and this can be beneficial for her being able to create the required organizational changes with time, market as well as necessity such as growth.
