Answer #1

Let's consider a trait of flower colour.

There are two possibilities, one is Green and yellow.

Allele for Green is G and yellow is g.

G is the dominasnt one which codes for green colour and g is recessive allele which codes for yellow colour.

What is the probability that this cross will produce an offspring with ONLY recessive phenotypes for the three traits?

People sometimes suggest that certain traits “skip a generation.” Which of the following is the best biological explanation for this saying? A A parent with two dominant alleles occasionally does not pass on an allele. B A recessive trait is sometimes masked in the F1 generation but reappears in the F2 generation. This is because of the law of segregation. C The law of independent assortment means that certain traits can be masked by a dominant allele but be phenotypically...

Human Mendelian Traits Like most complex organisms, humans possess an enormous number of genetically inherited characteristics. Some of these are Mendelian in nature, i.e., one gene with two alleles (one true dominant, one true recessive) producing two easily observed traits. You and your partner will evaluate yourselves and each other for your phenotypes, then list the appropriate genotype possibilities. If you are dominant for the trait then assume you are heterozygous unless you know your parents phenotype. 1. Rolling the...

Assume earlobe shape is controlled by a single gene with two alleles. The dominant allele generates free earlobes, while the recessive allele produces attached earlobes. A second gene on a different chromosome controls earwax consistency, where wet is dominant and dry is recessive. Bella has free earlobes with wet earwax and is heterozygous for both traits. Edward has attached earlobes with dry earwax. What is the probability that their first child will have either free earlobes or wet earwax or...

Since the time of Mendel, however, scientists have discovered many traits that have more complex patterns of inheritance. Which of the following elements from Mendel's model of inheritance turned out to be oversimplifications that aren't true for many traits? Check all statements that are oversimplifications.
