Why does blood clot when it is outside of the human body– such as on surgical instruments or the floor?
The main clotting protein is fibrin which is converted from fibrinogen in the clotting process. Once the blood is exposed to rough surface or air or a number of other factors there is an amplifying cascade of reactions which results in the formation of fibrin, overtaking the anti-clotting factors. In fact, it is as a result of an attempt to repair a cut but it can occur in response to an abnormality in the blood vessel for example the rough surface of a fatty plaque, or a scar in the blood vessel wall and causes a thrombosis, which can cause a heart attack or stroke, or may be life-threatening.
In simple words, blood clot when it is outside of the human body means to to stop the blood vessels being ruptured from losing the blood.

3. The human body has devised an excellent method to keep the body pH under control. a. What principle underlies the constant pH of human blood, and how does the blood achieve this? (1 point) b. Use Le Châtelier’s principle to explain how the human body is protected against low pH after excessive exercise. (1 point) c.
