The lack of physical activity among the teenagers is a serious concern. I would say it is as serious as national security and it is a vital component of nation building process. Physical activity is directly linked to physical fitness, health and good immune system. Healthy individuals contribute more to the society. Hence schools must change their schedules to accommodate more physical activity among students and promote sports or exercise or yoga as regular routine.

Schools must use recess as an opportunity for academics achievements, recess should not be replaced with classroom activities as a punishment. Participation in India and extramural sports must be promoted and modified to include and attract all the youth, irrespective of socioeconomic status.

Daily walking to school, if it is nearby, is a healthy way to promote good health and awareness. Schools can also include parents and families to participate in sports and physical activities in school premises. This creates more awareness and interest among the youth. Apart from these, classroom activity breaks can be reshaped to include specially designed physical activities like music, craft, and other various skills can be taught and promoted.
