Some of the steps that are taken while setting up a disaster recovery data center are as follows:

1) Assessment of the operational risks

2) List the internal and external assets, suppliers, resources, and other stakeholders etc

3) Accumulate the required documents like equipment configuration, network diagram etc.

4) Keep the existing Data Center DR Plan

5) Develop a data center disaster recovery plan

6) Collect the infrastructure documents

7) Work with the management for determining the serious vulnerabilities

8) Review the history of outrages and disruptions.

9) Identify the data center assets and check the maximum outrage time

10) Conduct the test plans and system recovery process for validation.

2b) The two things which would be done right away are looking for preventive measures and planning a transfer of data center to a safe place in a convenient time.

2c) A disaste recovery plan can either be done by the internal members or also can be hired by any other members. Doing it internally would help to open up ideas and details to the higher management.

Whereas hiring one from outside would make a faster plan as there would be experienced people handling it.
