speed of the roller = 9.5mph

width it will cover in one pass = 6.7ft

thickness of lift = 4.8inch = 0.4ft

Number of passes required per lift = 7

Therefore distance travelled in 1 hour(45 minutes) = 9.5*(45/60) = 7.125miles

Since 7 passes are required per lift, distance covered =7.125/7 =1.018miles = (1.018*5280) ft =5375.04 ft

production per hour(45 minutes) for roller = 5375.04*6.7*0.4 = 14405.11 cub ft = (14405.11*0.037037) cub yard =533.52 cubic yard

b)

Time required to compact 28,364 cubic yard = 28,364/533.52 = 53.16 hours   

c) given,

speed of the pneumatic roller = 12mph

width it will cover in one pass = 7.1ft

thickness of lift = 6.5inch = 0.54 ft

Number of passes required per lift = 9

Therefore distance travelled in 1 hour(51 minutes) = 12*(51/60) = 10.2 miles

Since 9 passes are required per lift, distance covered =10.2/9 =1.13miles = (1.13*5280) ft =5984 ft

production per hour(51 minutes) for roller = 5984*7.1*0.54 = 22942.65 cub ft = (22942.65*0.037037) cub yard =849.73 cubic yard
