    A man broke into a bank to steal gold bars. On his way out, he ran into seven guards. To bribe the guards, he was forced to give them some of his gold bars. He gave the first guard half of his gold bars and 1 more. He gave the second guard half of the remaining gold bars and 1 more. He did the same with the remaining guards. By the time he left, he had one gold bar remaining. How many did he originally steal?
