The following are the sample data sets from your class project about waiting line theories:

Arrival: 1, 3, 3, 3, 4

Service time: 33, 33, 52, 69, 58

The arrival data were number of cars arrived per every 5-minute interval, and the service data were the number of seconds spent on taking the corresponding order. What is the expected total number of customers (Cs) in the store for a given 5-minute interval? Give your answer to 2 significant places.

Answer #1

Lambda = average number of arrivals in 5 minutes = 2.8

average service time =49 sec = 49/60 =0.8166 minutes

Mu =average number of persons served in 5 minutes = 5/0.8166 = 6.123

average number of customers in the system = lambda / mu-lambda

= 2.8 / (6.123-2.8) = 0.8426

    The Burger Dome waiting line model studies the waiting time of customers at its fast-food restaurant. Burger Dome's single-server waiting line system has an arrival rate of 0.75 customers per minute and a service rate of 1 customer per minute. Adapt the Black Sheep Scarves spreadsheet shown below to simulate the operation of this waiting line. Make sure to use the random values for both interarrival and service times generated in the worksheet_12-23. Assuming that customer arrivals follow a Poisson...

    Consider a bank branch that has three distinct customer arrival patterns throughout the day, as measured by average arrival rates (below) Morning (8:30 11:30): 40/hour Lunch (1:30-1:30): 60/hour Afternoon (1:30 4:00): 3 35/hour. Regardless of the time of day, the average time it takes for a teller to serve customers is 2 minutes, 52 seconds Because of competition with other banks in the area, management has determined that they want to keep the average customer wait before service to be...

    C++ Lists, and a little queuing theory The MegaMicroMart (a subsidiary of Fly-By-Night Industries) is planning their next Big Small-Box Store. They want to ensure good customer service, and you've been hired to do some simulations to advise them on how to set up their checkout lines. This is a discrete-time simulation. This means that for our purposes, time advances in discrete 'ticks'. Each tick, everyone who's going to arrive arrives all at once, while at the same time everyone...
