A 1000 kg weather rocket is launched straight up.The rocket motor provides a constant acceleration for 16 s, then the motor stops. The rocket altitude 20 s after launch is 6200 m. You can ignore any effects of air resistance. What was the rocket's acceleration during the first 16s? What is the rocket's speed as it passes through acloud 6200 m above the ground?

Answer #2

a).at t=0 rocket starts from rest
v=16a
distance s=0.5a(16)^2=128a
and given is
6200-128a=16a*(20-16)
6200=128a+64a
a=32.292 m/s^2

B).rocket speed is 16a at 6200 m
v=16*32.292=516.67 m/s

    A small rocket to gather weather data is launched straight up. Several seconds into the flight, its velocity is 100 m/s and it is accelerating at 19 m/s^2. At this instant, the rocket's mass is 47 kg and it is losing mass at the rate of 0.50 kg/s as it bums fuel. What is the net force on the rocket? Express your answer to two significant figures and include the appropriate units.

    A model rocket is launched with a very rapid engine burst. The engine cuts off quickly and the rocket is subject only to gravity after that (ignore air resistance). At t=0, (which we call height=0) it is heading straight up with an initial speed of 52 m/s . We define "up" as the positive direction. Find the rocket's altitude at 7 s?. It says its incorrect but i got: 123.9m 52(7)-1/2 * 9.8(7)^2 = 123.9m
