Isolation policy in Japan was applied by Bakufu or Tokugawa shogunate. Due to this policy trade and business between Japan and other countries, restricted.foreiners were not allowed to enter in the Japan and Japanese were kept in the country for over 225 years.

It helped japan in very positive manner.in this era social and cultural development of japan occur.this era was full of peace and harmony.

On the other hand,it also hurt japan because during this era japan was away from technical and cultural discoveries and advancement.japan was away from all literature and artistic creations from other countries.

It was started in 1633 and ended in 1853. In 1853 American ship forced opening Japan for the trade between the USA.
