A + B = (1.31 + 3.99) i + (2.18 -3.78) j = 5.3 i - 1.6 j


2).

magnitude = sqrt[5.3^2 + 1.6^2] = 5.536 cm


3).
(A+B) lies in the 4th quadrant.

angle with x-axis in anticlockwise sense = 360 - tan^-1(1.6/5.3) = 343.2 degrees


B - A = (3.99 - 1.31) i + (-3.78 - 2.18) j = 2.68 i - 5.96 j

magnitude of (B-A) = sqrt[2.68^2 + 5.96^2] = 6.535 cm

(B-A) lies in the 4th quadrant.

angle with x-axis in anticlockwise sense = 360 - tan^-1(5.96/2.68) = 294.21 degrees
