Air pollution has become very costly environmental problem in terms of both human lives and in terms of billions of dollars lost for health-care expenditure and crop damage.

Contact the pollution control authorities in your community for the levels or air pollutants. Identify main air pollutants and the possible causes of air pollution. How does your community compare to others? Discuss your findings.

Consider your own skills and interests. Think of at least two skills or interests that could be applied (if you had the time and resources) to helping improve air quality in your community.

Introduction:

Air pollution has become one of the biggest problems to the human community as it is creating so many health problems not only for humans but also for all living things on the earth. Everyone should take appropriate steps to curb this menace as our future is lying in the hands of healthy and clean environment.

After contacting pollution controlling authorities in my community, I came to know what the main sources of pollution are. Our environment is getting polluted by industrial emissions, consumer and commercial products, commercial and residential heating, agriculture, other sources etc. Among this industrial emissions are contributing 52% of Air pollutants. In each and every house, all are having their own vehicles and vehicular emission is releasing CO in the air making it polluted. In some places, people are putting fire to burn dry leaves and fig, the smoke emitting from that is also causing choking.

After seeing all these, I came to one conclusion, it is not only the duty of pollution control authority, but all of us need to understand the seriousness of this problem and should get into solving this.

The temperature is rising due to the accumulation of green house gasses. In order to discuss about these problems, I asked society people to assemble at one place. When all came, me and my friends discussed about this with them and convinced them for 2 things. One is car pool, instead of using their vehicles, if two or more people need to go to one destination, they can combine together and travel in the same car. This not only saves the petrol/diesel but also reduces the emission CO. Another thing is I requested all to plant trees in their surroundings and never allow anyone to cut any trees in the surrounding places.

Conclusion:

As it is the job of everyone, we need to improve awareness among all, especially in children. So, that each and everyone should contribute towards the greener environment.
