Q1) a) The number of students who have the flu out of the 30 appointments is modelled here as:

X ~ Bin(n = 30, p=0.2)

Probability that exactly 5 have the flu is computed here as:

30 P(X = 5) = 0.250.825 = 0.1723

Therefore 0.1723 is the required probability here.

b) Probability that there are 10 students in a row who do not have the flu is computed here as:

= (1 - 0.2)*(1 - 0.2)*..... 10 times

= 0.810

= 0.1074

Therefore 0.1074 is the required probability here.
