The two solutions were violet and red before mixing.

Explanation: From the analysis of the resulting solution, we see that it contains all possible color possible in the visible range. Therefore such combination is only possible if the colors of all the wavelengths are mixed together. Since violet and red belong to the two extremes in the visible range if wavelength, of we mix these two, then only we can expect to obtain all possible color combination.

1.50 ppm.

Explanation: The absorbance and transmitance relation is

A = -log T = -log(0.112) = 0.95.
