Using workload method, we need to calculate total number of sales reps needed in the company
Number of accounts | Number of Visits per year | Time spent per visit (minutes) | Workload (hours) | Additional tasks (hours) | Total Workload (Hours)
Large accounts | 10,000 | 24 | 45 | 10,000*24*45/60=180,000
Medium accounts | 20,000 | 15 | 30 | 20,000*15*30/60=150,000
Small accounts | 25,000 | 10 | 15 | 25,000*10*15/60=62,500
Total | 392,500 | |||||
Merchandise and displays | 200
Entertainment | 1,000 | |||||
Travel time | 1,000 | |||||
Paperwork and | 500 | |||||
Total | 2,700 | |||||
392,500 + 2,700 = 395,200 |
Total number of hours available from each sales rep (each year) = 8 hours per day * 5 days per week * 50 weeks per year = 2,000 hours
Hence, total number of sales reps needed = Total Workload/ number of hours available from each sales rep = 395,200/ 2,000 = 197.6 ~ 198
Total 198 sales rep are needed.
