What is a hydrogel? Describe three (3) different applications of hydrogels biomaterials in biomedical applications, stating what hydrogel is being used in each application and what property(ies) of the hydrogel makes it appropriate for that application.
Hydrogels are hydrophilic, three-dimensional networks that are able to absorb large quantities of water or biological fluids, and they also have the potential to be used as prime candidates for biosensors, drug delivery vectors, and carriers or matrices for cells in tissue engineering.
The applications are
1. Hydrogels are used for Three Dimensional Cell Culture
2. Hydrogels are used for Self Healing
3. Hydrogels are used for Drug Delivery
