Answer #1

Alternative energy is the energy resources useful to man as alternatives or supplements to nonrenewable resources such as coal, petroleum .

solar panels reduced the dependency on coal. Because solar panels are renewable energy and coal is a non renewable energy and solar panels produce electricity as half the cost of coal production cost.

Petroleum is a renewable energy source and wind power turbines are possible only in high wind areas the tidal flow also very costly.

So the answer is solar panels.

    34. A coal slurry is found to behave as a power law fluid, with a flow index of 0.3, a specific gravity of 1.5, and an apparent viscosity of 70 cP at a shear rate of 100/s. What volumetric flowrate of this fluid would be required to reach turbulent flow in a 1/2 in. ID smooth pipe, which is 15 ft long? What is the pressure drop in the pipe (in psi) under these conditions? Please show all work, thank...

What is the importance of batteries in using renewable energy such as solar and wind power? Batteries are very energy dense. Batteries provide energy even when it's dark and the wind is not blowing. Batteries can be charged when energy is abundant and discharged when energy is not. Batteries can keep electricity flowing even when a cloud passes over head and reduces electricity production from solar panels. Batteries last forever (or at least a long time).

What is the role of burning coal in an electrical power plant? The heat is converted to electricity by a thermocouple. The heat boils water. The light from coal burning is converted to electricity by a photovoltaic panel. The heat produces a rush of wind which turns a turbine. The expansion of gases caused by burning coal makes pistons turn in an internal combustion engine.

[Should we build a wind farm?] Wind Power has been the most popular alternative energy choice in recent years. One of the key determinants for choosing a location for a wind farm is whether the site has enough wind. To produce enough energy using current technology, the site should have an annual average wind speed exceeding 9.25 miles per hour, according to the Wind Energy Association. One candidate site in southern California was monitored for a year, with wind speeds...
