Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Citalopram (Celexa) are considered selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
FDA, the Food Drug Administration has permitted five selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as, Citalopram (Celexa), Escitalopram (Lexapro), Fluoxetine (Prozac) Paroxetine (Paxil, Pexeva) and Sertraline (Zoloft) to fight depression. They are called antidepressants but they all have their own side effects if they are used for a long time.
