The spinal cord is a long, thin, tubular structure made up of nervous tissue, which extends from the medulla oblongata in the brainstem to the lumbar region of the vertebral column. It encloses the central canal of the spinal cord, which contains cerebrospinal fluid.
Label the features indicated in the cross-section of a spinal cord. Anterior hom Anterior funiculus Dorsal root ganglion Posterior funiculus Gray commissure 35 Posterior hom Lateral funiculus Lateral hom Posterior median sulcus Central canal Anterior median tissue

Correctly label the following parts of a motor unit. neuromuscular junction spinal cord skeletal muscle fibers neuromuscular junction skeletal muscle fibers spinal cord
The spinal cord has a segmental organization, and as a result: A. Each posterior (dorsal) spinal root innervates muscles found in the arms and legs, and this is referred to as a myotome. B. Each posterior (dorsal) spinal root carries sensory information from a specific area of skin, referred to as a dermatome. C. Efferent (motor) neurons in the posterior (dorsal) horn innervate muscles and organs from a single spinal cord segment. D. All sensory information from the periphery enters...
The Spinal Cord and Spinal Nerves Complete Skill Checks 1 and 2. Skill Check 1 Figure 14-5. Organ "A." 1. Identify organ "A" shown in Figure 14-5. 2. Label the outer and inner regions of organ "A" that are indicated. Skill Check 2 Name each of the following structures indicated on Figure 14-6. PETITI Figure 14-6. Spinal cord and spinal nerves.
