The amount of background radiation being received at a point or being observed using a G-M counter is almost same in both the case i.e. with an absorber made of lead namely or without an absorbers. This clearly also tells us that the amount of energy carried by the background radiation which has it's origin in the form of cosmic radiation to be very large.
This is why they make it through concrete walls, abosrbers blocks/ plates and not to mention the atmosphere of earth.
This question is regarding background radiation using a Geiger-Muller tube and (lead) absorbers. The question is...
A geiger-muller tube is a type of gas-filled radiation detector. It can detect particles like X-rays, alpha particles and beta rays (electrons). This is useful in quantizing the activity of a radioactive source or determining if an area containing radioactive material is safe to enter. Assuming that you have one mole of gas, if a geiger counter is filled with 1.0620 × 104 Pa of argon gas at room temperature (T = 26.6 C), what is the density of the...

choose correct answer. no explanation needed QUESTION 36 What does the apparent magnitude of a star tell us about that star? its mass how bright it appears from Earth its radius how much energy it is emitting QUESTION 37 What is the reason sunspots appear darker than surrounding regions on the Sun's surface? They actually are fairly bright, but appear dark against the even brighter background of the surrounding photosphere. They are too cold to emit any visible light. They...

For the preparation and standardization of NaOH with KHP im supposed to boil water for 1hr and 30 min to remove CO2....the problem is that if I don't boil it for that long and (30 min) b/c of not enough time but I put the water I boiled for 1/2 hr aproximately into a NaOH bottle with a CO2 absorber and stored it there for a few days. I would assume that I would have to boil the water again...but...
