The magnetic field lines are more intense at either of the poles of the magnet . It is equally strong at north and south pole of the magnet . Since we know that how many magnetic field lines pass through a given space tells about the magnetic field strength. The more field lines within a certain fixed volume, the greater the strength of the magnetic field. In the given diagram the number of field lines are maximum around the poles . Hence the magnetic field is more intense at the poles.
