Vapor Pressure : It is defined as the pressure exerted by a vapor which is in thermodynamic equilibrium with it's condensate phase, either a liquid or solid.

  • It relates to the tendency of particles to escape from it's liquid form or solid from to vapor phase.
  • The lower the boiling point of a liquid, higher will be it's tendency to escape into vapor phase and higher will be it's vapor pressure.
  • Similarly. the higher the boiling point of a liquid, lower will be it's tendency to escape into vapor phase and lower will be it's vapor pressure.

So, the correct option is Third, Carbon Disulfide, which has the lowest boiling point (46.3oC) and hence, highest vapor pressure.
