You want to decrease the susceptibility to insects of the avocados you are growing in your greenhouse. Your initial population has a mean infestation 26 insects. You select the 22 least infested plants to breed, whose mean infestation is 11 insects. In the next generation, the mean of the population is 16 insects. Answer #1

Ans.)The warm, moist conditions and copious nourishment in a nursery give a superb, stable environment for pest advancement. Generally, the characteristic adversaries that serve to monitor bugs outside are not present in the nursery. For these reasons, pest situations often extend in this environment and with greater severity than outdoors.. Bother issues can be unending unless perceived and adjusted.

There are several methods are determine the amount of additive genetic variation in resistance to individual insecticides and subsequent estimation of the heritability (h2) of resistance. Heritability is the degree of difference in a specific characteristic, in a specific populace, that is because of hereditary variables, instead of ecological impacts or stochastic variety.

Broadly there are two types of heritability; Broad and narrow

H2 = Broad sense heritability

h2 = Narrow sense heritability

Here H2 = Vg/Vp

where, Vp ( phenotypic var) = Vg (genetic var) + VE (environmental var)

    You are hired by Murphey Farms to decrease the backfat in their hogs. The current hog population has a mean backfat content of 17.8mm. You selected the hogs with the smallest amount of backfat, mated them and obtained the progeny generation. The selected hogs had a mean backfat content of 11.8mm. You know that the heritability for percent backfat in hogs is 0.53. What is the selection differential? Round your values properly to 2 decimal digits. What is the expected...
