  • Personality is a collective term used to define the traits of a person and the behavior which is displayed by the person subject to different situations. Personality will include traits that are physical, mental, emotional among others. Personality is defined using the collective contribution of various traits present in the person. Personality is important to different people based on their traits. The personality is also used to identify the kind of person is. Thus, personality holds crucial importance in itself for a person.
  • There are 5 types of personality traits which are described as follows,
    - Openness: This is a type where people tend to be open enough to welcome new experiences and knowledge. The most important traits are imagination.insightful etc.
    - Conscientiousness: This is another type of personality. This type of personality people is organized, trustworthy.
    - Extraversion: This type of person enjoys interacting with other people. Such people are talkative, energetic.
    - Agreeableness: This type of people are friendly, easy to talk to and are mostly mild and stable.
    - Neuroticism: This type of personality type describes the emotional stability of a person. These people are judged for their personality based on their negative emotional stability.
  • It is the personality of the employee which should match the way the job has to be performed. Personality plays a great role in an employee's decision to stay in the job or quit. The personality match with the job profile is a must to ensure that the employee will not quit the job. If there is a mismatch in the personality traits required for the job and the personality of the person then the employee will quit the job because of this mismatch. Hence, this is why the employee may quit the job on such a mismatch.
  • To improve employee personality within the organization, the human resource professionals can organize various training and personality development plans as per the need of the jobs at hand and then train and develop the personality of their employees in a way which will favor the personality development of the employees in the desired direction. Hence, training and development is a great way of handling the personality development of the employees within the organization.
