Question

5. An inverted crank sider mechanism is shown below. The crank length is 20 cm. The length of the ground link is 50 cm. The crank rotates at a constant angular velocity of 2000 rpm (ccw) The crank shaft and the follower are considered massless in this problem. The slider as a coupler has a mass of 0.25 kg with a mass center as A3, and a mass moment of inertia of 0.125 kg-m i) Conduct the kinematical analysis by relating the positions of the coupler and the follower to ?2 , the velocities (linear and angular) of the coupler and the follower to 02 and ? 2, and the accelerations (linear and angular) of the coupler and the following to 0, and ô,. Note that the crank acceleration (angular) ?2 is zero (ii) Determine the shaking force in terms of 0, and 6,, and then compute its magnitudes for 02 450, and 02-90° (iii Design a balancing scheme to reduce the shaking force magnitudes and state clearly your reasons. Recalculate the shaking force magnitudes for ?2 45°, and ?2-90° and conclude the effectiveness of your balancing scheme with reference to the answers in (ii) Not to scale 4 r 2 02
