In February 2020 the glamorous couple returned from Italy to Australia, bringing a selection of foods including cured meats and interesting cheese. Unfortunately, as they landed they were asked to wait along with the other passengers and submit bodily material for a genetic test for COVID-19. They were very angry to be held back for no apparent reason and have asked you, a friendly scientists taking their samples, to explain what is happening and what do you plan to do with their bodily samples.

Answer #1

We would explain to the exotic couple as to whether they have been infected by the SARS COV2 virus, from their trip to Italy. Given the high incidence of COVID 19 cases in Italy, this past couple of months, they could have contracted the virus. Moreover their belongings and food products could also contain virus particles, which could lead to the spread of the deadly virus.

This is being done for their own welfare and for the community as well. Moreover, it would be wise for them to quarantine themselves for atleast 2 weeks.
