Answer #1

WIP = Flow rate * Cycle Time

Initial WIP = (1 per hour) * 10 hours = 10

FInal WIP = (1 per hour) * 15 hours = 15

Initial WIP value = 10 * 1500 = 15000

Final WIP value =15 * 1500 = 22500

Reduction in WIP = 22500 - 15000 = 7500

Answer #2

For old system:

Work in process = 15 hours x $1500 = $22,500

For new system:

Work in process = 10 hours x $1500 = $15000

Work in process reduction = $22,500 - $15000 = $7500

All of the hitches in this line have "natural" finishes so no additional steps are necessary after they are cast. The machine used to cast these...
