Question

1. Calculate and record the logarithm of the length L and the logarithm of the period T for each length of the pendulum.

2. In Excel*, graph log T as a function of log L (log T on ordinate, or y-axis, and log L on abscissa, or x-axis). Follow all the usual rules of good graphing. Label the axes in Excel.

3. Have Excel display the trendline and the equation. What is the slope of your line? What is the intercept?

4. Write out the equation on page 1 and take the log of both sides. Rearrange the equation to resemble the equation of a straight line. This will take some algebra.

5. From your rearranged equation and the slope of your line, calculate a value for the power of L and a percent error for your calculated value. (In other words, T is supposed to be proportional to L raised to some power. What is that power? That’s the accepted value for your slope.)

6. From your rearranged equation and the intercept of your line, calculate a value for g and a percent error for your calculated value.

I made the graph as well and the function of the trendline was y=0.5001x + 0.3023

The equation on page 1 is T = 211 /L/9 , taking the log of both sides and rearranging it to slope form, I got log(T)=1/2log(L)+1/2log(4\Pi ^{2}/g)

I need my log calculations checked, and if they are not correct then an explanation of how to do them. Also I need help doing number 5 and 6 from above.
