An exarch protostele is a style found in primitive plants of vascular nature. It has a solid layer of xylem surrounded by a phloem. There is an absence of pith and leaf gap.

It further has 3 subtypes namely :

1. Haplostele

2. Actinostele

3. Plectostele : Eg. Lycopodium cernuum, Lycopodium elavatum
