Wave are oscillatory movement of water and it flow as rise and flow of water surface . When water is rise it called crest and when it down it called thought. Wave in nothing but movement of energy which provide by winds and it flow horizontal . While tide is flow vertical because it formed due to gravitational attraction of sun and moon so it is a vertical movement.

So wave is horizontal movement of water and mass movement of these wave is called Oceanic currents
