Bandura's social cognitive theory is based on the observational theory. It is found that children learn through observation. Through observation they imitate the activity. Through imitation they try to model the thing. Through continuous interactions with the social members the children imitate numerous actions and spontaneously there develops the modeling. For such interaction and formation of cognition, this model is also called the reciprocal causation model.

Bandura presents hos theory with the help of a triangle. At the three corners of the triangle there are three factors as person, environment and behavior. Bandura says that cognition depends on environment. There are many types of environment. In the house the environment consists the family members. In the society there are social members. In the school environment there are students and teachers. Through interaction with them a child learns the behavior.

The behavior of a child is the reflection of his cognition. His social cognition occurs through social interaction. Child know how to interact with others. He learns his own identity and the various levels of relationship. His role is different in different places. His motive and emotions are also the part of his social learning.

It also appears randomly in our surrounding. Imitation motivates one. When one sees a person doing different type of work he is m motivated. When a child finds that one of his classmate is giving good reply to the teacher, he is motivated and also follows the same by imitation.
