When comparing with the past decades nowadays there is a higher incidence of community health problems and other community problems are presented in the community that needs appropriate intervention to control it. This needs a health promotion campaign or health intervention strategy to control it.

The common community problems faced by the community are :

  • Adolescent pregnancy
  • Access to clean drinking water
  • Child abuse and neglect
  • Crime
  • Domestic violence
  • Drug use
  • Environmental contamination
  • Ethnic conflict
  • Health disparities
  • HIV/ AIDS
  • Hunger
  • Inadequate emergency services
  • Inequality
  • Lack of affordable housing
  • Poverty
  • Racism

This community health problem needs to design a strategic intervention such as :

1. Investment in building healthy public policy is a key strategy

2. Supportive environments need to be created at all levels

3. The effectiveness of community action is unclear and requires further evidence

4. Personal skills development must be combined with other strategies for effectiveness

5.Interventions employing multiple strategies and actions at multiple levels and sectors are most effective

6.Intersectoral collaboration and interorganizational partnerships at all levels.

7.Community participation and engagement in planning and decision-making

8.Creating healthy settings, particularly focusing on the settings of schools, workplaces and cities and communities/municipalities.

9.Political commitment, funding and infrastructure for social policies.

10.Awareness of the socio-environmental context is essential
