The role of a nurse in caring for this type of patient are

  • Keeping the dressing dry
  • Elevation of the limb as per the order
  • Assessong fir any complications like haemorrhage, phantom limb pain,skin break down,infections.
  • Application of sterile limb sock
  • Pain management
  • Following strict aseptic techniques

The nursing care should focus on infection control and earlier mobilization of the patient aiding to revover faster.
