PLEASE PROVIDE THE LINK TO THE HEALTH CAMPAIGN THE LINK PROVIDED (dailymail.co.uk) does not have the information. Please help me provided the link. The answer is good but the instructor want me to state the link to the health campaign “Lung cancer is no joke”

Please examine past and/or current social marketing campaigns and see if you can remember one from your childhood that had a big effect on you.

Locate a social marketing campaign or public service announcement that addresses a public health issue (does not need to be current – for example, the “This is your brain, this is your brain on drugs” campaign).

  1. Briefly describe the issue and campaign. Provide a link to a video clip, if appropriate and available.
  2. Is the message targeted to a specific population, and if so, what population?
  3. Identify and discuss the 4 P’s of social marketing for this campaign, and include the 5th P if appropriate. Remember, the goal of a social marketing campaign is to change behavior in some way. So the product should always be the new, desired behavior; price is going to be what the person will be giving up to adopt the new, desired behavior; and so on.
  4. How effective is the campaign, in your opinion? What would you change, if anything

A health campaign is a type of media campaign which attempts to promote public health by making new health interventions available. The title of the health campaign is " Lung cancer is no joke ". In this campaign the main focus is given to the causes of lung cancer like smoking , exposure to silica dust etc .

Link to this health campaign is dailymail.co.uk

Yes, the message is targeted to the teenage population because they make the major part of the country's population. They are the future of our country . They need to be fit and healthy . This is an age group which is attracted more towards the glitter, fast technology , parties , smokes , alcohol etc . To make them aware of the risk factors of lung cancer , promote , prevent and restore their health this campaign is targeting more towards them.

Four P's of social marketing campaign are :-

- Product means desired behavior change

- Price means costs to make changes

- Place means location to deliver message

Promotion means messages to encourage change

The campaign was very well organized and was effective in creating awareness regarding lung cancer. The only thing I would like to add on in this is the involvement of the audience participation in the campaign because if they are involved there will be an inner motivation to change their behavior.
