2. (2 marks) Consider a pre-loaded threaded bolted joint subjected to static load P as shown in the figure below. This figure shows one of the bolts of a threaded joint that is part of a group of uniformly loaded bolts. The bolt is a SA Grade 4 bolt having a major diameter d0.375 in and the pitch p - 0.0625 in. The two steel members, marked 2 and 3 in the figure below, have the thickness of 0.5 in each. By tightening the nut 4, a pre-load Fi of 1700 lbfis achieved. The extemal load P applied to the joint is 800 lbf. Obtain all associated safety factors for the above joint such as (i) yielding factor of safety guarding against static bolt tensile stress exceeding the proof stress, (ii) factor of safety for eternal load, and (ii) factor of safety for joint separation. Note that there are no washers in the bolted joint. Assume coarse threads.
