Jouy the point P. Problem 56. When a carpenter finished framing the second floor of new house, the foreman came over and asked him if he was sure that the second floor frame was really parallel to the first floor. The carpenter picked up a straight beam and nailed the center of the beam to the center of a supporting post. He then rotated the beam until the Lower end touched the first floor. At the same time, the upper end of the beam just touched the second floor frame. "See?” said the carpenter, "they're parallel!” Explain how this demonstrates that the two floors are parallel.
