Ans 1 : 2) 9

In the first step , uranium -235 absorbs one neutron and causes nuclear fission releasing 3 neutrons.

These 3 neutrons when attack three different uranium-235 nuclei in the second step , release 3 neutrons each per uranium nuclei , so that the total number of neutrons released per step will be : 3 x 3 = 9 neutrons.
