The overload implies that gradual and progressive training must occur in order for improvement to occur .Specificty is the how the athlets body adapt to the type of training programe and the training should be simlar to the demand of sport During a preparatory phase emphasis is on general fitness, but during competitive season emphasis is on specific activity performed in competition, During off season, there is ample time for physical and mental rest from specific training, while continuing with activity to maintain physical activity for the begining of next season.So during off season principle of variation is practised.
