Validity in assessment is a crucial component in context of an educational setting as these assessments are what gauge the progress of a child and are the predictors of future achievement.

There are many ways that the validity in a given assessment maybe undermined, some examples could be:

For instance, if there is a assessment of subject knowledge in a particular domain, but the question of the assessment are set in a haphazard manner and are incomprehensible then the validity will automatically dip low.

Also, if the question in the given assessment are not related to the subject it proclaims, then to its validity dips low.

These specific threats can be counteracted by asking other professors in the field regarding which question undermine the validity of the assessment, and by referring to alumni as well.
