How many molecules of NAD are reduced as one molecule of pyruvate is metabolized through one turn of the Krebs cycle?
3 molecules of NAD+ are reduced as one molecule of pyruvate is metabolized through one turn of the Kreb's or the Citric Acid cycle. Pyruvate is 3 carbon long which is converted into acetyl and then into citrate and this is fed into the Kreb's cycle.
Please give a thumbs up if the answer helped you.Thank you! :)

If you consume ONE molecule of pyruvate, how many ATP molecules will you generate?
During EMP glycolysis, 1 molecule of glucose is broken down into two molecules of pyruvate and 2 molecules of NADH are produced. During fermentation, 1 molecule of pyruvate is reduced. During this process, one molecule of NADH is oxidized. If 34 molecules of glucose are broken down during glycolysis, and all the resultant molecules of pyruvate are reduced by fermentation, how many molecules of NADH will remain?
We have discussed fermentation as a mechanism for regeneration of NAD for glycolysis under conditions when an ETC is not available for NAD regeneration. Embden-Meyerhof glycolysis converts one NAD to NADH for each molecule of pyruvate produced. Fermentation of pyruvate to propionic acid converts one NADH to NAD for each molecule of pyruvate fermented. Which of the following statements is TRUE of metabolism under conditions that force the use of pyruvate fermentation to propionate? It should be possible to perform...
When a biological molecule is oxidized, the electrons are often captured by NAD, which is reduced to NADH. With that knowledge, identify if the substrate other than NADH or NAD in each reaction is being oxidized or reduced Diphosphoglycerale + NADH Glyceraldehyde phosphate + NAD Reduced Oxidized Isocrate + NAD > alpha-ketoglutarale + CO NADH Pyruvate NADH-> Lactate NAD- Malate.
