Following are the 3 differences between group therapy and support groups :-

1) Support groups are good for managing problems and challenges that which can not be changed. It could include changing life problems, personal problems or other problems.

Whereas,

Group therapy works on individual to bring a change in the person so that stress, negativity, depression in his life can be eliminated by working on the work.

2) The objective of a support group is to assist people to cope.

Whereas,

The objective of group therapy is to change.


3) The members of support group respect, hear and advise each other because they all suffer from some problems in their life. They encourage and support in different problems of life.

Whereas,

In group therapy each member focus on themselves to understand himself better and change their perspective according to the problem.
