Please explain 4 of Walmart’s core competencies and give an illustration and explanation how each led to failure internationally because it did not match the country in which they tried to expand. Please use different illustrations from those below.

Wal-Mart had an important part in developing the uniform bar code. The organization has used the details from this bar code to efficiently enhance its product management and streamline the supply chain. Additionally, the immense scale and buying power of Wal-Mart also gives it considerable leverage as it comes to price bargaining with its vendors. Wal-Mart's core competencies Wal-Mart is a business that has developed its core competencies, which are the skills that the organization embraces and works especially well in achieving its mission, allowing them strategic advantages. To be a competitive advantage, the core competences must fulfill four characteristics.

Key Competencies for Wal-Mart:

1. Community-One of Wal-Mart's main competencies is its history. Jobs at Wal-Mart are hard-working, productive and process-oriented. It points out in the video "The Era of Wal-Mart" that Wal-Mart creator Sam Walton called his staff associates and regarded them as friends. He needed their advice and suggestions about how to make it easier for the company. Moreover, no matter if you're taking to Wal-Mart around the country, Walton wants you to know that you're taking to get affordable costs, outstanding customer service, and feel at home. This form of community is unique and impossible for rivals to emulate, from the door greeters to major charitable donations.

2. Low Cost Operations- Sears was a major retailer during the 70s, as the video points out, but was severely impacted by the recession. They served families of the middle class, increased their overhead, and grew in larger towns. During this time Wal-Mart focused on local towns with lower overhead. As the economy got weaker, people began to search for cheaper rates and migrate to smaller towns and suburbs. Today, Wal-Mart is able to produce a huge amount of revenue that allows the company to make money at a small profit margin giving it an edge over its rivals.

3.Distribution channels - Wal-Mart runs an unrivaled regional distribution center network of 146. The trickle-down phenomenon is occurring because of that. Trucks will not have to drive long distances to supply to the distribution centers and helps shorten lead times for the company to service its stores and for suppliers to ship merchandise. This ensures that less stock will be handled, and items that are out of stock can be replaced more easily and rapidly. Lower stock means a greater turnover of inventories. That is another competency that Wal-Mart's rivals occasionally and impossible to emulate.

4.Supplier connections-Wal-Mart has a program in place that aims it meet the aim with reduced pricing. This system of information technology involves computers, networking, and internet that cuts inventories and waste and helps to produce quickly. This program also allows Wal-Mart to stay in close touch with suppliers by distributing the data needed by suppliers so they know what Wal-Mart wants. Wal-Mart is now partnering with manufacturers to boost their quality, pulling out the best deals from their manufacturer. The video has called Wal-Mart the handler of the client. All this emphasis Wal-Mart puts on vendors is rising costs and decreasing prices. The technological / logistical leadership of Wal-Mart remains unrivaled among the competitors.
