Let us discuss USMCA or US-Mexico-Canada Agreement Implementation Act. (H.R.5430)

The purpose of this legislation is to improve the trade relation between the three NAFTA nations. It was introduced to the house (of Congress) on 13th December 2019 by Steny Hoyer, a representative of the Democratic Party.

Currently the bill has been passed through vote and received 385 Yeas and 41 Nays. It was passed on 19th December 2019. Currently (as on 16th January 2020) the bill is in the Senate.

If we look at the opposition to this bill, there have not been many. 193 Democrats and 192 Republicans supported the bill in the house. The opposition came from 38 Democrats, 2 Republicans and 1 Independent representative.

The committee involved in the bill are Finance, Health, Education, Labor, and Pension.

The bill focuses on the trade deals between the countries. As a result of this, large corporations are likely the lobbyist for this bill. Small businesses such as mom and pop stores will unlikely see any direct benefit of this bill. However, larger corporations with manufacturing and distribution operation across the continent will likely benefit from a larger market.

Since there is considerable support from both the Republicans and the Democrats, I have feeling that this will be made into law.
